FORMER minister Tengku Adnan Mansor’s aide was among four people arrested and remanded for four days by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for investigation into bribery amounting to RM200,000, said sources.

The deputy director of a City Hall department in City Hall is the other government official among the arrests.

Tengku Adnan was the federal territories minister in charge of City Hall.
 
The four suspects were arrested Wednesday night at a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. Putrajaya magistrate Shah Wira Abdul Halim allowed MACC’s remand application yesterday.

MACC sources said the minister’s aide and two of the others arrested acted as middlemen.

The senior City Hall officer was allegedly the recipient of a total RM200,000 from several contractors as reward for upgrading work contracts they were awarded by the city authority.

MACC deputy chief commissioner (operation) Azam Baki said his officers found RM1 million cash in the City Hall officer’s residence during a raid.
