STRONG winds in Penang this morning overturned eight containers at a construction site in Balik Pulau, injuring a number of foreign workers who used them as living quarters.

The state Fire and Rescue Department said about 10 foreign workers were slightly injured when the wind blew and turned the containers over at the construction site on Kuala Jalan Baru.

“The station in Balik Pulau was alerted of the incident about 10am.

“When personnel arrived at the scene, the containers were already overturned.

“The workers suffered some light injuries. All are in stable condition,” the report said.

Many parts of Penang, including George Town, received heavy rain this morning, but there are no report of floods, the department said. – May 6, 2019.
