OCCUPANTS of a PKNS apartment in Taman Keramat Permai have been assured by Mohamed Azmin Ali that they will not be financially burdened by the costs of repairs to fix the cracks that have appeared in their homes.
The Gombak MP said PKNS will repair and help the residents with costs incurred in moving out from Block F.
The economic affairs minister also promised RM500 to each family from his allocation to help the families with any cost incurred.
“I have spoken to the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council and they have identified a few newly completed buildings that can be used to house the evacuees,” Azmin told the media after visiting the site today.
The 222 affected residents were previously evacuated to SMK Taman Keramat before they were relocated to the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council Hall after cracks appeared in the building on Friday.
However, only nine families are staying at the hall while the rest said moved in with their relatives.
He said the building’s status will be known on Wednesday when the report on its condition is finalised.
The former Selangor menteri besar said the agencies involved in investigating the cracks will finalise their report by Wednesday.
“The findings will be presented to the Selangor executive council on May 2. The residents’ safety is the priority now. The Institut Kerja Raya Malaysia (IKRAM) said there has been no soil movement under the building over the last three days,” he said.
Azmin said if the building was found to be stable and safe, the residents will be able to move back in before the start of the fasting month.
“We anticipate the residents will be able to move in before Ramadan which I would be either this Saturday or Sunday if the technical committee investigating the buildings safety gives the green light,” he said.
Azmin said if the building is not safe then the Selangor government will help with repairs and help the residents find alternate accommodation while repairs are carried out. – April 29, 2019.
