UMNO president Najib Razak is set to make a major announcement today with speculation that it involves the return of prominent names who had left the party.

It is understood, however, that Shafie Apdal, who was sacked from the party two years ago, is not one of them.

However, The Malaysian Insight and other online news portals and newswires have not been allowed to cover the press conference at Umno headquarters in PWTC, Kuala Lumpur. It is limited to only local mainstream media.

When the press conference was announced late yesterday, speculation was rife that Najib was set to dissolve parliament to pave the way for the 14th general election.

However, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi denied that was the case, and urged the people to wait for the announcement. – September 17, 2017.
