A FIGHT broke out today between Pakatan Harapan supporters and activists at the pact’s headquarters for the Rantau by-election.
Two groups shoved and screamed at each other about 7.30pm when the activists gathered in front of the second-floor office of the operations centre in Bandar Ekar.
The altercation lasted about 90 seconds, ending when some PH backers jumped in to separate the quarrelling groups. It is not clear what sparked the confrontation.
Some men on the sidelines warned reporters who were filming and taking photos of the fight to “lower your cameras or they will be broken”.
One group was then whisked away to a restaurant on the floor below, where PH activists calmed them down, while the other was kept outside.
The shutters at the eatery were pulled down, and the group inside escorted out through the back door.
The second group left the operations centre, heading in the opposite direction.
Five minutes later, about 10 police officers in yellow vests arrived to guard the front door of the PH office, where Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun was in a meeting with coalition officials.
About an hour later, some 12 Federal Reserve Unit personnel arrived at the scene. By this time, the men who started the fight were long gone. – April 13, 2019.
