NAJIB Razak said that his message to Umno members that they must put the party above all else has prevented them from leaving the party. 

The former prime minister said it is crucial that Umno’s solidarity is strengthened.

“I’m not happy with the solidarity now. 

“Even though it looks good now, they (the members) need to strengthen the spirit of unity,” he said at the town hall session on Politik Malaysia Baharu at the Putra World Trade Centre today.

He said there must be only one Umno and everyone must put the interests of the party above all. 

“Because of my message, I have managed to stop the members from jumping (to another party),” he said.

If more members started jumping to other parties, Najib said, then Umno’s objective to come back to power will not be achieved.

“Those who have jumped have lamented that they have been sidelined when they go for events.

“They are not appreciated. They are of no value if they jump ship because their tricks are known,” he said.

Najib said that Umno will not forgive those who have jumped to another party, regardless of the circumstances.

“If members are loyal to Umno, then we have a chance.

“One day, those who have left will get it (retribution),” he said. – April 6, 2019.
