SEMBRONG MP Hishammuddin Hussein has welcomed the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) probe into the Defence Ministry’s land swap controversy.
He said the panel must not be selective in the cases it investigates.
“It is very good, but they have to be fair and investigate from the beginning, during the time Dr Mahathir Mohamad was in office (in his first term as prime minister),” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
On whether he will cooperate in the probe, the former defence minister said he has nothing to hide.
It was previously reported that Hishammuddin said he has no qualms about authorities investigating his former aides who were allegedly involved in armed forces land swaps that led to RM500 million in losses.
PAC deputy chairman Wong Kah Woh has confirmed that Hishammuddin will be summoned as part of the investigation.
The case involves 16 land swap deals, involving 1,183ha of land owned by the ministry, valued at RM4.756 billion, with project costs amounting to RM4.886 billion. – April 2, 2019.
