PAKATAN Harapan (PH) wants to meet Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for an update on the status of its registration application, the coalition chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today.
He said the opposition coalition wished to meet Zahid, who is also the deputy prime minister, to find out if the Registry of Societies (RoS) had issues with the PH constitution and logo that were stalling the registration process.
“We haven’t received any information on the status of our application to register our constitution and logo.
“We need to get the approval so that we can prepare for election,” he said in a press conference after chairing the coalition’s presidential council meeting at Amanah headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
PH submitted its application to register the coalition and its logo to RoS on July 28. RoS rejected the logo and provided the specifications for a new logo that PH should submit. PH then sent several logos as per RoS’ specifications.
Neither the application to register the coalition nor the logo has been approved to date.
PKR, DAP, Amanah, and Bersatu, which are in the PH coalition hope to contest in the next general election under one logo.
Meanwhile, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu announced that the party’s national convention in Kedah next week was postponed to October 21 and 22, following the passing of Sultan of Kedah Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah. – September 11, 2017.
