ACTIVISTS from the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community should take heed and respect the cultural and religious sensitivities of Malaysia’s majority if they, too, want to be respected, said Deputy Home Minister Aziz Jamman.
“This group should be sensitive to us. The minister has said this many times.
“As Malaysia is a multiracial country with Islam as the official religion, it is sensitive, especially to the Malays,” Aziz told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
“As much as we want to respect this group, they also must respect the majority,” he said.
Aziz was commenting on last Saturday’s Women’s Day march, which saw backlash from conservative groups due to the participation of LGBT activists. – March 12, 2019.
