SELANGOR Pakatan Harapan (PH) will be setting up a committee to discuss seat allocations for the 14th general election (GE14) in the state, said its chairman Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The Selangor menteri besar said the committee will look into the distribution details of the seats that must be shared by PH’s four component parties – Bersatu, PKR, DAP and Amanah.

“We discussed this morning in principle the directions we want to head in for the 14th general election.

“Once the committee for the seat allocation and the manifesto has (finished their) discussions, it will be tabled back at the PH state level,” he said after giving out approvals for land titles in Sungai Samak, Rawang, today.

However, he did not give details as to the committee’s leaders or members or when the discussions will take place.

When asked about three cornered fights, since there is no longer any cooperation with PAS, Azmin said that the issue will be discussed.

This morning, Azmin chaired Selangor PH’s first meeting with component party leaders to discuss the structure of the opposition coalition’s leadership at the state level.

Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president and Selangor mentri besar, was appointed Selangor PH chairman by the coalition’s presidential council.

As for Indian representation in Selangor PH, Azmin said that they have selected Dr Xavier Jayakumar as elections director and Sivarasa Rasiah as deputy chairman.

“We have very well representation from all races and all parties.

“Selangor should provide leadership that represents all races at the senior level of PH.

“We must ensure that what we promised to the rakyat must be implemented.”

Prior to this, there was tension among Selangor PH leaders because of Azmin’s delay in forming a state-level PH committee.

Azmin had been more keen on pursuing talks with former opposition ally PAS to ensure straight fights in GE14, especially in Selangor.

The PH presidential council last month decided to reject any electoral cooperation with the Islamist party. – September 8, 2017.
