THREE men, including Sri Mahamariamman Devasthanam chairman R. Nadarajah, were remanded for three days to facilitate investigations into the development of a parcel of temple land in Jalan Bandar, Kuala Lumpur.

Nadarajah, who heads the committee in charge of administering the iconic Hindu temple in Batu Caves, was arrested last night following raids at his home and the temple office.

Nadarajah was taken to the Putrajaya magistrates’ court where the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) obtained a three-day remand order against him and two others, believed to be temple committee members.

The Sri Mahamariamman temple in Jalan Bandar, the oldest temple in Kuala Lumpur, is managed by Sri Mahamariamman Devasthanam’s management board.

The board also manages the Batu Malai Sri Subramaniar temple in Batu Caves and Kortumalai Vinayagar temple at Persiaran Maybank in Kuala Lumpur. β€“ March 5, 2019.
