PAKATAN Harapan could lose the next general election if its component parties fail to maintain good relations, coalition chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad said.

The prime minister said PH must make this a priority.

“Cooperation must be strong. If we just look after our own parties, surely, we won’t be able to benefit from the unity of a coalition.

“To maximise the good that comes from working together as a coalition, we have to prioritise good cooperation among ourselves,” he said at the Johor government retreat programme in Putrajaya today.

Dr Mahathir also urged all PH leaders to hold regular meetings to exchange views.

“Have debates among ourselves. It should not just be limited to the excos, as other members should also be involved in party activities at the national and state levels.

“They should also be able to contribute to the success of the party as the ruling government.”

Dr Mahathir also advised PH leaders not to make remarks related to racial and religious sensitivities.

He said coalition leaders must preserve unity, and matters that could affect unity must first be referred to the government.

“We are a multiracial party. The sensitivities of all races must be preserved.

“Don’t hurt feelings by making remarks or insulting statements against other races and other religions.” – February 28, 2019.
