PUTRAJAYA today signed a revised agreement on the light rail transport (LRT3) project, which will lead to nearly RM15 billion savings.

Prasarana and MRCB-George Kent signed the fixed-price contract which also involves nine other work-package contractors to complete the line by 2024.

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, Transport Minister Anthony Loke and Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad witnessed the signing.

After the 14th general election, Pakatan Harapan discovered that the cost of the project would be RM31.56 billion.

The project delivery partner agreement was then revised to RM16.63 billion.

While maintaining the length of the LRT3 at 37.6km, there will be six fewer stations, with five to operate on the back of future demand.

It is reducing the “park n ride” facilities from 6,000 to 2,300 bays and the number of trains from 42 sets of six-car trains to 22 sets of three-car trains. – February 22, 2019.
