A FORMER member of parliament from Johor has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over allegations of receiving bribes and a piece of land worth RM230,000 in exchange for a Felda-linked project.
According to a source, the 56-year-old man, a director at Felda, was arrested at about 12.40pm and will be charged in the Sessions Court in Johor Baru tomorrow.
MACC deputy commissioner (operations) Azam Baki confirmed the arrest.
It is learnt the former MP had used his position as a Felda director to propose and approve the appointment of a printing company which he had interest in to print the Felda1Suara newsletter from 2012 to 2015.
The contract is said to have been worth RM13 million.
In exchange for this deal, the former MP received RM50,000 cash in 2013 and a piece of land in the Kota Tinggi area worth RM180,000 a year later. β February 9, 2019.
