Sabah opposition bloc can take on Warisan govt, says Ongkili

GABUNGAN Bersatu Sabah (GBS) could rise to take on the bloc led by the ruling Parti Warisan Sabah, said Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Dr Maximus Ongkili.

Ongkili said his view was based on reactions from the ground on PBS and former Sabah Umno representatives.

“Until, the former Sabah Umno group decide to join a party, the GBS group can be a formidable force to take on Warisan.

“From the reactions on the ground and conversation, both the former Sabah Umno and PBS supporters, Muslims and non-Muslims, support from the grassroots remain strong,” he said after hosting the PBS Chinese New Year open house in Kota Kinabalu, today.

Ongkili said the situation looks good for the loose GBS partnership as the Warisan-led state government had failed in many aspects.

“Look at the state government now, there is unhappiness and broken promises.

“The people will get fed up if this continues,” he said.

Ongkili said cooperation with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) was strong, saying the two blocs are comparing notes over the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

“At this point, all I can say is PBS envious of the Sarawak government in defending its rights.

We hope to meet GPS MPs soon and discuss how both coalitions can work together,” he said.  – February 6, 2019.
