THE number of police reports lodged against electoral offences reached 21 as the Cameron Highlands by-election enters its last week.

Police are still investigating all the cases, including the report lodged by Barsian Nasional candidate Ramli Mohd Nor against a deputy minister, said Pahang deputy police chief Yusri Hassan.

“We have received the report and it is still under investigation.

“Since nomination day to date, we have received 21 reports.

“We have referred the reports to the Election Commission and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and are awaiting their response,” he said after visiting the Brinchang police station to check on early polling today.

Yesterday, Ramli lodged a report in Sg Koyan, alleging that the vehicle he was travelling in was stopped by Deputy Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Tengku Zulpuri Shah Raja Puji and that the latter verbally abused his team.

Zulpuri allegedly hit out at BN supporters for tearing off Pakatan Harapan flags from a Pahang government vehicle.

Zulpuri has yet to be called in while police await instructions from the deputy public prosecutor. – January 22, 2019.
