Najib rubbishes Chef Wan’s bribery claim

FORMER prime minister Najib Razak has denied celebrity chef Redzuawan Ismail’s claim that he gave bribes to Felda settlers when he was in power.

He said the previous Barisan Nasional government did not bribe the community, but instead, helped them.

“We did not give bribes. We helped Felda folk because they faced hardships,” he told reporters in Kuala Lumpur today.

Redzuawan, popularly known as Chef Wan, earlier today said he wants to slap Najib and former Felda chairman Mohd Isa Abdul Samad for allowing the agency to get into a financial mess.

“How could you let Felda be mismanaged like that? Come on, you put Isa Samad up there, knowing all that he had done before.

“If I had him (Isa) here, I would slap him, and I would slap Najib,” he told reporters after a cooking programme for Felda settlers in Cameron Highlands.

Najib said there is no reason for him to respond to the remarks.

“That’s Chef Wan. Why entertain Chef Wan?”

He said Felda settlers now get a measly income, citing as an example those in Sg Koyan, who received just RM74 last month.

It is not considered a bribe if the BN government intended to help settlers, he said.

“We did not differentiate between Felda settlers… whether they were Umno supporters, or PAS’ or PH’s. We helped all of them. Everyone received help equally.

“It is not bribery if there was no difference (in the aid given).” – January 20, 2019.

  • This is how the former PM twists and turns his words to manipulate the Felda settlers. Stop lying through your teeth and dont test the intelligence of the Felda folk.. Together with Isa Samad, they make a great pair!
    If there was an ounce of sincerity in your heart, if you could even feel the plight of the Felda settlers or if you had a clear heart & conscious, you wont be riding motorcycles on stupid roadside gimmicks to gain attention... you dont need to cos people would adore you..respect you.
    But unfortunately you chose a path of greed and selfishness above all, you used some many people to your advantage. Thats why, the country is where it is today.. literally in the doldrums with a trillion ringgit in debt!
    You just brought pain and injustice through you manipulative ways.. Justice will find a way to reward you for your endeavours!!
    So, stop talking, stop canvassing and go home and prepare your case. You have busy days ahead.. Delaying court tactics will not work..
