MALAYSIA Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers today raided the head office of the Companies Commission of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur for the fifth time.

The Malaysian Insight learnt that the raid, which began at 11am and ended at 5pm, was aimed at finding files and documents to assist in investigations.

An MACC source confirmed the raid, saying that the investigating team seized seven boxes of documents.

He said the series of raids that have taken place since January 9 have seen 77 boxes of documents confiscated but no witnesses called up.

“The witnesses will be summoned soon,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

The raids on Companies Commission of Malaysia are linked to an investigation into a RM500 million project.

In November last year, Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin, who was speaking at the House of Representatives, called on the authorities to investigate the project for corruption.

It is learnt MACC is investigating allegations of power abuse and fraud.

He said MACC also raided four other companies in the city in connection with the probe. One of the companies raided an accounting firm in Bangsar South and one a business management consultant  in Sunway Nexis . – January 17, 2019.
