PAKATAN Harapan’s heavyweights will focus its machinery in Jelai as the district is under BN, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Fuziah Salleh.

She said in line with this, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim will visit the area today, while Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will head there on January 23.

She said less focus was needed in Tanah Rata, a district under PH assemblyman Chiong Yoke Kong of DAP, as opposed to Jelai, which is under BN assemblyman Wan Rosdy Ismail.

“The whole PH machinery will focus on Jelai because today, Anwar Ibrahim will be here.

“Wan Azizah will also be here and Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be focusing here as well.

“We already have strength in Tanah Rata,” Fuziah said at the launch of the PH slogan “Development with Pakatan” in Sg Koyan 3 today.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, meanwhile, said that Dr Mahathir should be heading down to Jelai on January 25.

“Because Dr Mahathir is prime minister, the details of his visit will be closely guarded by his office, so it is not finalised yet.

“But he will coming down. We are relying on him,” Lim said.

Among other leaders set to appear on the campaign trail for Pakatan are DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang and Amanah’s Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa, who are expected to speak in Sg Koyan tonight.

As for BN’s campaign, former defence minister Hishammuddin Hussein was in Cameron Highlands yesterday while his Umno colleague and cousin, former prime minister Najib Razak, began his three-day visit to Cameron Highlands today. – January 17, 2019.
