UNFAZED by the loss of the Cameron Highlands seat, former MP C. Sivarraajh is a permanent fixture on the Barisan Nasional by-election campaign.
The MIC vice-president has been seen on the side of BN candidate Ramli Mohd Noor and has gathered a posse of his party men to assist the Orang Asli candidate.
“I’m not the kind that gets upset and stays at home. There was injustice done against me but I will continue to do my work for BN,” he said during a Ponggol festival in Ringlet.
The by-election was called after the election court in November annulled the election results for the parliamentary seat in GE14, after finding the winner, BN’s Sivarraajh, guilty of vote-buying.
He was also disqualified from contesting in an election for five years.
The by-election will see a four-cornered fight between Ramli, Pakatan Harapan’s M. Manogaran and independents Sallehudin Ab Talib and Wong Seng Yee.
Sivarraajh is optimistic about Ramli’s chances, declaring they were “very high”
“Even though we are not in the government, they will vote BN. Because we have done a lot for them.”
Sivarraajh said the Cameron Highlands seat, which is traditionally MIC’s to contest, is on loan to BN who will give it back to the party in the next general elections.
“This is a MIC seat and we think we will get it back in GE15. For now, we give it to our BN candidate.”
Ramli is a direct BN candidate and not a member of any of the component parties. – January 16, 2019.
