THE former Sabah MIC leaders only want to enrich themselves by forming a new Sabah Indian party was, said a former MIC leader.

Ron Ganasegaran, a former Sabah MIC secretary, said there was no need to form a new Indian-based party as they could better serve the communities by joining any of the existing multiracial parties in Sabah, like Parti Warisan Sabah or PKR.

“There are around 10,000 Indians in Sabah, they comprise professionals like doctors, engineers and some open coffee shops.

“You see, the Indians in Sabah are not poor, hence, they don’t need representation in politics.

“The plans by these former MIC leaders are just a ploy to enrich themselves,” he said in Kota Kinabalu, today.

Former Sabah MIC chief V. Jothi had told The Malaysian Insight that the party had dissolved itself and plans to announce a new Sabah Indian party on January 6.

Jothi said the 12,000 Indians in Sabah have some issues that need to be dealt with.

He said the new party will be a government friendly one.

Ron today refuted this, saying most of the Indians in the state are doing well and community leaders can represent their people in existing state parties.

Ron left MIC in 2007. He was a founding member of the party, serving as its secretary for three terms. – January 3, 2019.
