FORMER Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) staff still waiting for job placements have been assured that their concerns are being looked into.

The Transport Ministry said they will be given jobs, but must wait a little longer.

Minister Anthony Loke told The Malaysian Insight that the ministry is aware of the plight of 132 former SPAD staff who have yet to receive appointment letters, which were due on December 15.

“It will be dealt with. We will inform them soon.”

The Malaysian Insight reported that the employees have sought the help of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to get them new jobs.

They sent a memorandum to Dr Mahathir, pleading that he resolve their woes.

These employees are among the 967 retrenched after the Pakatan Harapan government disbanded SPAD.

They were assured of appointment letters by December 15, but have yet to receive them.

On June 6, the commission was renamed the Land Public Transport Agency and placed under the Transport Ministry.

SPAD was previously under the Prime Minister’s Department.

Several of the affected employees told The Malaysian Insight that Loke, in a meeting in September, promised them that they would get the letters by the said date. – December 20, 2018.
