TALK of the 13 former Sabah Umno reps joining Bersatu may come to fruition sooner than expected.
Photos showing the reps getting their Bersatu membership forms have today gone viral on social media.
The photos showed membership forms being passed around by former Sabah Umno liaison chief Hajiji Mohd Noor, who led the Sabah Umno mass exodus on December 12.
However, in attempting to confirm the memberships with the reps, Karanaan assemblyman Masidi Manjun, Hajiji and several others maintained they were still independent.
Earlier today, Bersatu chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad had reiterated that his party would not form a Sabah chapter.
He, however, added that the party would not stop anyone from applying to join Bersatu.
Five days ago, nine assemblymen, four MPs, two senators and 21 division heads from Sabah Umno resigned to become independent reps.
The move crippled Umno, which was left with only one assemblyman – Sungai Sibuga’s Musa Aman – in the state legislative assembly.
The group, led by Hajiji, had said they would remain independent until when they found a new suitable platform to continue their political goals. – December 17, 2018.
