UMNO will not be irrelevant if members and supporters maintain their fighting spirit, said Najib Razak.
“When we have the fighting spirit (roh perjuangan), in any situation, we will not be erased, we will not be irrelevant anymore,” Najib said during a breakfast event with fishermen at Kampung Sungai Miang jetty in Pekan today.
“We will still be a party that is in the people’s hearts because when it comes to the people’s welfare, nobody can beat Umno,” he said in a video recording of the event posted on Facebook.
The former prime minister said the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) government had always cared for fishermen, and even allocated RM265 million for them in aid.
He said some fishermen may not get any additional funds, or the aid might even be reduced next year as Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) government had only allocated RM95 million for fishermen in Budget 2019.
Najib said the party accepted its defeat in the 14th general election (GE14), but stressed that party members should not forget the party’s struggle.
“Yes, we want projects, yes, we want aid, but our fighting spirit is the highest value.
“Do not think we don’t have a future. This is a cycle. Today may be theirs, but tomorrow might be ours.”
Umno is currently facing a crisis of confidence as many of its leaders ditch the party, with more rumoured to be leaving if current party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi does not step down.
Six Umno MPs quit the party yesterday, which brings the party now down to 37 seats in Parliament out of the 54 it had won in GE14.
This also leaves Barisan Nasional with 40 seats in Parliament, including two held by MIC and one by MCA. – December 15, 2018.

Why not let members decide for themselves and let them go their separate ways... either stay on in umno or leave umno and join a party that they think best suits them..
Maybe then it will give wannabes like Carrotman (the man with an IQ of a carrot.. KJs description) a short at party presidency?!
