PARTI Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) has decided to ally with the state’s independent representatives, said its deputy president Arthur Kurup today.

He said he is taking along the party out of the old Barisan Nasional coalition to align with Pakatan Harapan and the Warisan-led government.

“PBRS wishes to be with the independents and to work with the present government,” the Pensiangan MP said.

Arthur was met after the exodus of Sabah Umno members, who chose to become independent politicians, in Kota Kinabalu today.

Party president Joseph Kurup, Arthur’s father, previously announced PBRS was applying to be a member of Pakatan Harapan, after the coalition won the May 9 polls.

He said this after seeing Wilfred Madius Tangau bring United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut out of Barisan Nasional.

A few months later, Kurup decided to stay put in BN, but later joined Gabungan Bersatu Sabah, along with Parti Bersatu Sabah, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku, and Sabah Umno.

GBS was formed to replace BN in Sabah.

PBRS now has an MP (Arthur), and an assemblyman via Elron Angin (Sook).

But differences between Angin and the party president will see PBRS left only with an MP as Angin is expected to join STAR, led by Jeffrey Kitingan, on December 16. – December 12, 2018.
