GERAKAN Kuasa Rakyat Malaysia today filed a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over the state government’s plan to extend the term of Sabah governor Juhar Mahiruddin during a special state assembly sitting on December 13.

Gerakan Kuasa Rakyat Malaysia sponsor chairman Zulkarnain Mahdar said the term extension was a reward for Juhar for his involvement in the “chief ministers conspiracy”.

Zulkarnain said Juhar was responsible for the debacle of appointing two Sabah chief ministers and for convincing BN assemblymen to switch sides to Warisan-Pakatan Harapan.

Zulkarnain said Juhar was also responsible for the delay in appointing Musa Aman as the Sabah chief minister on the night of May 10, although 31 assemblymen had endorsed Musa’s leadership.

“The laws of Sabah limits the head of state to two terms. Is this a reward for Juhar for creating the chief ministers conspiracy?,” he said.

“If Juhar gets an extension it is indeed a form of bribe and must be stopped,” he said after filing the MACC report in Kuala Lumpur, today.

The Sabah government is expected to amend the state constitution to extend the term limit for the head of state.

Zulkarnain said there were many other suitable candidates to be the new head of state, who must be non-partisan. – December 11, 2018.
