KUDAT Umno division chief Guraman Lolong has made no secret of his interest to join Bersatu, saying the party founded by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad shares Umno’s ideals.

“I decided long ago to leave Umno. More and more party members are leaving Umno.

“If the situation continues, how am I supposed to help the people? When I leave Umno and join Bersatu, I’ll be able to help them.”

Guraman is one of the 15 division heads present at a Sabah Umno meeting today to decide on the party’s future.

The meeting was chaired by state Umno liaison chief Hajiji Mohd Noor.

Guraman said some 30% of Kudat Umno members have quit and joined the ruling Parti Warisan Sabah.

It is not clear at this point whether Bersatu will debut in Sabah. The party previously said it would not set up a branch in the state. – December 11, 2018.
