VINCENT Tan will personally contact Ayala Corporation to propose an amicable solution to the impasse at Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Subang Jaya.
He said he had previously set up a fund that could possibly re-buy the land, but the issue could only be resolved if the fund was accepted by Ayala Corporation.
“I know them. They are respectable and good people. I think we can resolve it with the developer when the bosses know the situation is like this.
“We cannot do this through the court. It takes too long, and we don’t want another fight.”
“We will talk to the developer. Hopefully we can resolve this and the temple will be here forever. We all want Malaysia to be successful and prosper,” Vincent said at a meeting in the temple.
Ayala Corporation, the biggest property developer in the Philippines, is the parent company of One City Development Sdn Bhd, who bought over the temple’s land.
According to Bloomberg, Ayala Land owns 66.25 per cent of MCT under the Ayala Corporation.
MCT owns a subsidiary company, MCT Consortium Bhd, that in turn fully owns One City Development.
“They could be very charitable. Maybe they could give a very big discount, or even donate the land. We leave it to them.
“I will donate RM500,000 to the temple to start a fund. As of now we have RM1.5 million, and another Datuk is willing to contribute some money. There will be RM2 million in the account,” he said.
The prominent individual he was referring to was Ananth Kumar, who along with Barry Goh, David Kong, and Vincent Tan donated RM500,000 each to the fund.
Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Xavier Jayakumar, said the government was on board with the plan and accepted the idea of an out-of-court solution.
“We hope to find a solution through my ministry and the Selangor menteri besar. We had a discussion with the landowners and Ayala. They are open to listening to our solutions.
“I hope this can resolve our issues. This solution will only be a reality once the signatures are signed by all the different parties,” said the Kuala Langat MP. – December 2, 2018.
