THE alleged sacking of former Bersatu Youth (Armada) exco Mohamad Taufik Abas via Twitter is a lie, said the wing’s chief.

Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said Taufik’s statement on the matter showed that the latter had the personality of an Umno agent.

It is an obvious lie. That is expected of an agent of Umno,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

Taufik claimed that he had been sacked from Armada via Twitter due to him posing a question to Dr Mahathir Mohamad on the Memali tragedy at last weekend’s Nothing To Hide 2.0 forum, which triggered chaos at the event.

He said he had yet to receive an official letter from Syed Saddiq regarding his removal.

Syed Saddiq responded that Taufik was no longer a member of the wing since the reshuffle of its exco members a month and a half ago.

Taufik also said in Sunday’s incident, chairs were thrown towards him and not the former prime minister.

He is so self absorbed. The chairs came right behind him. If the person had wanted to throw chairs at him, the person must have really bad aim,” said Syed Saddiq.

“We can see that things were being thrown towards Tun (Dr Mahathir).”

In the incident, shoes, water bottles and chairs were thrown towards the stage, where Dr Mahathir was, and lit flares were thrown around the hall.

Sources told The Malaysian Insight that the suspects who allegedly started the chaos were paid RM50 each to attend the forum.

Three male youths, aged 17, 18 and 19, have been remanded over the fracas. – August 19, 2017.
