THE Selangor Fire and Rescue Department has strongly denied that fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim was hit by a fire engine during riots at the near the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple in Subang Jaya yesterday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department chief Azmi Osman said it was Mohd Hazim Mohd Rahimi, not Adib, who is severely injured, that was hit by the fire engine instead.

“We have made a police report on a statement that was made by an organisation and individuals that Adib suffered injuries due to being hit by a fire truck.

“The authorities are investigating the case and we don’t want it to be interrupted,” he said after lodging the report at the USJ 8 police station tonight.

It was believed that Azmi was referring to the Save Seafields Temple Task Force, who had said the injuries sustained by Adib were not due to an attack by the mob, but from getting hit by the fire engine.

Task force leader S. Ramaji said he had received some video evidence that showed Adib was hit by a reversing fire engine.

He said the driver of the vehicle did not know Adib was behind the vehicle.

Azmi said that he wants the police to take action against the individuals that had made the statements.

“The public shouldn’t immediately believe this kind of false statements and we want the police to conduct their investigations based on what they said of Adib who was carrying out his duties.”

Azmi said that he made the report based on the account of witnesses and firemen that was at the scene of the incident.

“The video and picture that went viral was Hazim at the back of the fire truck.

“He is still strong and in good spirits,” said Azmi.

When asked if the department has any clue on how Adib got injured, Azmi declined to comment on the matter.

“I just want to stick to false statements made by the individuals.” – November 28, 2018.
