MP denies giving rights to his name for recommendation letters

SEPANGGAR MP Mohd Azis Jamman today denied giving the right to any party to issue recommendations or declaration letters on his behalf to allow Sabah IMM13 holders to get MyPR cards.

He said the process of obtaining MyPR adhered strictly to the law and Constitution, and could not be obtained with recommendation letters.

“The Sepanggar Community Service Centre does not issue any form of support letters for the purpose of applying either for the IMM13, MyPR and MyKad, as claimed by some parties.

“There are many people who visited my centre to raise their grouses.

“The workers at my centre only collect applications but not supporting letters,” he said.

Azis, who is also deputy home minister, said he was aware that a company in Kota Kinabalu had sold such documents to IMM13 holders who wanted to get the MyPR permanent residents’ card.

Police arrested three individuals on November 22 over the scam.

Sabah police commissioner Omar Mammah had said the suspects used the deputy minister’s name to make a quick profit.

“I received the police report on the matter and demand stern action be taken against the culprits,” said Azis, adding that the suspects were now under police remand.  – November 28, 2018.
