FIVE Malaysians, one of them an auxiliary policeman, and a Filipino were charged with human trafficking at the Kota Kinabalu Sessions Court, today.
Sergeant Jasnih Ot Ali@Mohd Ali, Badri Jalal, Omar Sapari, Amin Ali, Anuar Madjinil Hadji and Filipino Muksin Munib, aged between 28 and 62, are accused of smuggling 26 people between them from the Philippines.
They were charged under the under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants Act (Aptisom 2007).
No plea was recorded. The accused were not offered bail.
The court set December 7 for case mention.
Yesterday, police announced the arrest of 11 people suspected of smuggling migrants from the Southern Philippines to Malaysia.
The migrants were from Pakistan, China, Indonesia and the Philippines, who had entered Sabah illegally before taking a flight to the peninsula. – November 21, 2018.
