THE Election Court has struck out a petition filed by Parti Warisan Sabah candidate Jo-Anna Sue Henly Rampas challenging the general election win of Kiulu assemblyman Joniston Bangkuai.
Justice Supang Lian rejected the petition on technical grounds and ordered Rampas to pay RM20,000 as cost.
She lost to Bangkuai from Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) by a 1, 443 vote majority in the May 9 election in a four-cornered fight involving candidates from two other parties – Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku and Parti Cinta Sabah.
Mary Gomez and Edina Sung Burongoh represented Rampas while Joniston was represented by Tengku Fuad Tengku Ahmad.
Warisan has now lost all the eight election petitions it filed on June 18.
The party had challenged the poll results for the federal seats of Kimanis, Sipitang, Keningau and Libaran, as well as, the Sungai Sibuga, Kundasang, Sook and Kiulu state seats.
It is understood that Warisan president Shafie Apdal may appeal in all 8 cases. – November 16, 2018.
