PAKATAN Harapan’s inability to deliver on its election promises could see young members leaving PKR, said the party’s Youth wing.

Muhammad Fikri Khalid, a Federal Territories PKR Youth representative, said Malaysians voted for PH in the 14th general election because of its pledges.

He cited a Merdeka Centre survey, involving 3,000 respondents, that found youth between 21 and 30 chose the pact because of its promises.

“We have to agree that among the things that contributed to (PH’s) victory were the ‘sweet promises’ made by the pact, as said by the opposition.

“Also, 85% of the respondents found that a party’s manifesto had an impact on the results of the general election.

“We are worried that the youth who voted for us in GE14 will shift direction if PH does not deliver on its promises,” he said during a debate on the Youth chief’s speech at the wing’s congress in Shah Alam today.

He highlighted, among others, PH’s promise to provide one million jobs should it be voted into power.

Fikri added that youth are “generally sick” of Malaysia’s politics.

“I hope the Youth wing and PKR as a whole do not take this matter lightly.
