BUDGET 2019 should have increased aid to the people as the country faces tough times ahead, said former prime minister Najib Razak.

During the debate on the budget in Parliament today, Najib asked why aid for the people was reduced although the total budget allocated for next year increased by 10%.
“At a time where the people are facing difficulties, increased cost of living, a drop in commodity prices, the aid for the people should be increased in Budget 2019. Why was it reduced?”
His statement drew reactions from the Pakatan Harapan lawmakers.
R.S.N. Rayer (DAP-Jelutong) asked Najib the whereabout of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad funds.
Other lawmakers also wanted to speak while Najib debated but the latter did not give way to anyone.
Budget 2019, tabled on November 2, will see an expenditure of RM314.5 billion compared with RM290.4 billion in Budget 2018.
Najib said civil servants complained that they will not get additional income to cover the high cost of living.
He added that city folk are also complaining about the increase in cost of living.
“When I asked them, they said before GE 14, PH promised a trolley can be filled even if they only spend RM50. But what happened after GE14?” asked Najib, suggesting that nothing had changed. – November 14, 2018.
