THE Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will not reopen investigations into the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) affair until all litigation linked to the state investment fund are settled, said Ronald Kiandee.

The PAC chairman said the decision was made on the advice of the attorney-general and has been conveyed to the Dewan speaker.

“We will not proceed until the cases are settled in court,” he said.

“The matter has been conveyed to the Speaker and I am confident the Speaker has informed the government,” he told reporters at Parliament today.

The PAC will also investigate the Auditor-General’s Report on 1MDB which was tabled to the PAC in March 2016.

In a statement today, Kiandee said the PAC had spoken to the attorney-general about the probe and it was agreed that it would not interfere with the 1MDB cases in court.

“PAC will investigate if the auditor-general encountered obstacles to holding an audit into 1MDB and whether the facts in the audit report were changed before it was tabled to PAC.”

He said the hearing would start in the first week of December  and former auditor-general Ambrin Buang will be the first witness. – November 13, 2018.
