ROSMAH Mansor is expected to be charged on Thursday with abuse of public funds relating to a Sarawak solar-energy project for rural schools.
Her counsel, Geetham Ram Vincent, confirmed that she will appear at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Thursday morning.
He, however, declined to specify the charge.
Rosmah’s former aide Rizal Mansor will also be charged on Thursday, reports said. The duo are likely to face six charges related to the RM1.25 billion solar-hybrid project, involving an amount of RM6.5 million.
Rosmah’s husband, former prime minister Najib Razak, was recently called to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Putrajaya and questioned in relation to the Sarawak solar energy project, reports said.
Najib denied this on Twitter.
The solar-power project, valued at RM1.25 billion, was awarded to Bintulu-based transport firm Jepak Holdings on orders of Najib, whistle-blower site Sarawak Report alleged in a June report.
The firm was appointed in 2016 to supply diesel, maintain generators and provide solar power to 369 schools.
Since June, MACC has arrested two executives from the firm and a lawyer. Rizal was arrested later on allegations he solicited money from the firm.
Rosmah is facing 17 counts of money-laundering in a separate case involving RM7 million. She was arrested early last month after providing a statement to the MACC in Putrajaya. – November 13, 2018.
