PKR’s central election committee (JPP) chairman Rashid Din said the vote-counting for the Keningau division was ongoing while Pensiangan’s counting process had just started.

He told The Malaysian Insight the Pensiangan division may have experience the same glitch as Keningau, in which the e-voting system was offline temporarily due to poor internet connection.

The e-voting system uses the cloud system to store data, but it had been speculated that up to several hundred votes may have gone missing using this system.

“At the moment, we have to wait until the whole matter is resolved. But we will continue to monitor the situation,” Rashid said.

Earlier, he had said the Keningau results would be announced about noon, but when reminded over the matter then, he responded, “Tak keluar lagi ke? (It’s not out yet?)”.

The Keningau polls were held yesterday, the first day of voting in Sabah.

On whether voting would be held again in Keningau, Rashid said he was unsure.

Several news outlets had previously quoted Sabah PKR vice-chairman Kenny Chua and the JPP state coordinator Rosli Masaliku as saying that a revote may take place in Keningau.

Deputy president candidate Rafizi Ramli said he was also made to understand that the Keningau polls had been cancelled and a revote would be held. – November 4, 2018.
