Pakatan budget underwhelming, copies BN's, says Khairy

BUDGET 2019 is underwhelming and a copy of previous Barisan Nasional budgets, Khairy Jamaluddin said after Pakatan Harapan (PH) tabled its first budget since the general election six months ago.

The Rembau lawmaker said the PH budget hijacked many initiatives from the previous administration.

“There are a lot of things that continued from BN’s time or was re-announced today,” Khairy told reporters when met after the Budget tabling in Parliament today.

The former youth and sports minister tabled BN’s version of the budget yesterday, which proposed a reduced rate for the goods and services tax (GST).

Khairy added the budget this time around also had no big picture growth for Malaysia and did not benefit the people.

“There was no big strategy to grow the national economy.

“Even though the budget is bigger than the previous budget there are not many touch points for the people.

“For example, BSH (Bantuan Sara Hidup) is way lesser than the BR1M we promised. If BN won, we promised RM2,000,” he said.

Khairy said he will elaborate more when he debates the budget when Parliament meets again.

Khairy will be the first BN lawmaker to debate Budget 2019. – November 2, 2018.

  • KJ, take a break, avoid saying something simply because you are in the opposition. Pakatan's maiden budget for 2O19 and beyond really is ok as the new govt is trying to find its feet after the unbalanced progress of Umno-BN which affected all of Malaysia & many Malaysians for many, many. years even going back to the time before you were born..
