THE Communications and Multimedia Ministry will appoint an accoutant to improve the financial management of the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas).

Its minister, Gobind Singh Deo, said Finas’ finances have to be reviewed to avoid irregularities.

“I am also planning to appoint an accountant from a credible firm to study and report, with the body’s approval, to the ministry on Finas’ financial system and accountability to ensure there are no more leakages, losses and reccurrence of integrity issues,” he told reporters at Parliament lobby today. 

He also said a new board, which consists of individuals who have experience in the filming as well as accounting industry, has to be appointed. 

“I will announce the new board next week,” said Gobind. – November 1, 2018.
