THE trade war between global powers China and the United States has not significantly impacted Malaysia yet, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said.

He said Putrajaya was not involved in the trade war.

“Our policy is not to interfere in any war. We are not part of this (trade) war.

“We realise that it may have some impact on us but for now, the impact is not significant. We still continue to trade with both nations.

“But if there is impact, we hope it is the US moving its investments to Malaysia, if the country decides to move out of China. Maybe we can benefit from that,” he told the Dewan Rakyat this morning.

Dr Mahathir was answering a question from Annuar Musa (BN-Ketereh) who had asked about Malaysia’s position in the ongoing trade war between the US and China. – October 15, 2018.
