ISA Samad today urged Indian voters in Port Dickson to throw out the “outsiders”, including prime minister-designate Anwar Ibrahim, who are making a claim for the parliamentary seat.

The former Negri Sembilan menteri besar said outsiders did not know anything about Port Dickson and they should not be allowed to win the seat.

“I’m a PD local. We don’t want outsiders to contest in PD. We have enough of outsiders in the past,” Isa told a group of about 40 Indians in Kg India today.

The former Jempol MP also trained his guns at Anwar, urging voters not to be swayed by Pakatan Harapan a second time around as the current government had not fulfilled its early promises.

“Don’t get fooled twice, you were fooled once into voting for them in the general elections. Enough is enough. They do not fulfil their words.

“Don’t make it a second time. If you make it a third time, you should rather die,” Isa said.

He said Anwar was getting weak and that was why he chose the PD parliamentary contest as it is seen as a safe seat.

“He is not strong now, he is weak. That is why he is contesting in PD. Now, we can beat him because he is weak,” Isa said.

Anwar is in a seven-way battle for the seat. He is up against five independent candidates – Isa, his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, Lau Seck Yan, Stevie Chan and Kan Chee Yuen – and air force veteran Mohd Nazari Mokhtar of PAS.

The Port Dickson seat fell vacant after PKR’s Danyal Balagopal Abdullah quit as MP to make way for Anwar, who is attempting a Parliament comeback.

This is in line with PH’s plan to have him take over from Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister.

In the 14th general election, Danyal got 36,225 votes, defeating Barisan Nasional’s Mogan Velayatham and Mahfuz Roslan of PAS, who received 18,515 and 6,594 votes, respectively.

The Port Dickson seat has 77,750 voters where the breakdown is 43% of Malays, 33% of Chinese, 22% of Indians and 2% of others. – October 6, 2018.

  • Being a local and one time MB means you failed PD when in power. The problems today are due to greed and neglect. Ruined ecosystem, abandoned overdevelopment and ruined coastline.

  • For all the years that "locals" have represented PD, what good did they bring? FGV? Isa and his ilk continues to ask for vote based on irrelevant and illogical grounds, such as the origins of a candidate, which does not matter as much as his credibility and abilities. But this is expected as their brand of politics is almost entirely dependent on factors like race and religion.
