YANG di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V officially declared the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games 2017 (KL2017) open this evening at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur.
The 29th edition of the games brings together some 4,900 athletes from 11 countries – Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Timor Leste and host Malaysia.
The athletes will compete for a total of 404 gold medals in 38 sport categories, with ice skating, ice hockey, indoor hockey and cricket being introduced for the first time.
KL2017 will close on August 30. – August 19, 2017.
