MALAYSIA plays host to the 2017 Sea Games, officially known as the 29th Southeast Asian Games, from August 19-30, featuring 404 events in 38 sports.
SEA Games Federation (SEAGF) member countries take turns to host the event and each country is assigned a year to host but may choose to decline.
Malaysia last hosted the games in 2001 when the country emerged as overall champions with 111 gold medals. Kuala Lumpur 2017 (KL2017) marks the sixth time Malaysia is hosting the games, which coincide with the nation’s 60th Merdeka (independence).
