No benefit in being heritage site, Batu Caves temple committee says in war over painted steps

UNDER fire from heritage authorities for the Batu Caves temple’s colourful painted steps, the temple committee says it has never benefited from being listed as a national heritage site, The Star reported today.

Batu Caves Sri Mahamariamman Temple Devasthanam committee chairman R. Nadarajah said they received no grants from the National Heritage Department for the maintenance of the tourist spot.

  • Don't let ego gets in the way. Do what is right. I am sure the committee has done their research. the authorities should not just follow the books but engage in constructive work with the committee. After all every parties are bound by their SOP but what's the ultimate objectives. I am sure all parties want the same good things to make Malaysia proud and prominent in a clean way

  • FYI, once its listed as Heritage, it's no longer yours. This belongs to the people and not some few people in a committee that come and go. Heritage is for always! Time to come out of the cave...
