Charges against lawyer, activist relating to Anwar case dropped


LAWYER N. Surendran and activist Lawrence Jayaraj Edwin John, who faced sedition charges in connection with the Federal Court’s decision in PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim’s second sodomy case, were today acquitted and discharged by the Kuala Lumpur sessions court.

Judge Emelia Kaswati Mohamad Khalid freed Surendran, 52, of the charge after deputy public prosecutor Zaki Asyraf Zubir told the court that the prosecution was withdrawing the charge against him.
