PUBLIC interest in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal is on the wane, according to a survey of Malaysian Twitter users carried out by social media observer Politweet.

Figures released by the organisation show that the annual number of people tweeting about 1MDB has dropped from 85,118 in 2015 to 19,459 this year.

There are indications that major developments such as the announcement of investigations by the US Department of Justice (DoJ) have not done much to sustain interest in 1MDB, Politweet said in a Facebook posting today, adding that the second DoJ announcement this year drew in less than half the interest of that in 2016.

Meanwhile, Politweet pointed to the bullying related death of T. Nhaveen and said it was more talked about online this year than 1MDB within the same period. – July 19, 2017.
