THE Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Ministry will introduce a new business model for the failed National Feedlot Corporation in three months’ time.

Its minister, Salahuddin Ayub, said the new initiative would be done “holistically” to enhance the production of local beef to 30%.

“The matter is being discussed, and the new business model will realise our objective of increasing local meat production.

“The views of all stakeholders will be considered for the new business model, as it is an important industry,” he said today.

Salahuddin also said the ministry would not act hastily in introducing the new business model and would take on board all issues and views.

Salahuddin also announced that online marketer Najib Assadok had declined being named to the National Agriculture Advisory Council.

His replacement will be named next week. – Bernama, June 25, 2018.

  • What "new model"?? Feedlot business is inherently difficult with fluctuating price of output and even more volatile input with small margins. Its why its best left to more nimble private sector. How can govt do better without wasting money?? I suggest they put Rafizi as top advisor in the decision. He looked at this very closely, he knows the pitfall.
