NORHAYATI Ariffin’s testimony to the Suhakam inquiry panel yesterday on her husband Amri Che Mat’s abduction was denied by a Special Branch officer who lodged a police report yesterday.

Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner R. Munusamy, who cross-examined Norhayati, showed her a police report lodged by Sergeant Shamzaini Mohd Daud, denying everything she had told the panel in her testimony yesterday.

After reading from the report, Norhayati told the panel that Shamzaini had stated that he visited her home in Kangar, Perlis, on May 12 to ask if he could rent a shoplot from her.

“I don’t know anything about this report,” she told the inquiry panel.

Norhayati had earlier lodged a report of her own after speaking to Shamzaini, alleging that the SB officer had told her that police were involved in the abductions of her husband and Pastor Raymond Koh.

She also told the panel that Shamzaini had allegedly told her that he was coming forward with this information now simply because there was a new government in power.

But during cross-examination today, Munusamy asked Norhayati if she knew that all information allegedly provided by Shamzaini was public knowledge.

Norhayati replied that she did not have all details.

“Did you receive any other information from Shamzaini before lodging your police report on 15 May?”

Norhayati replied that she never saw or spoke to him after May 12.

She also denied what Shamzaini had said in his police report.

Munusamy then told the inquiry panel that during Amri’s alleged abduction in November 2016, Shamzaini was carrying out administrative duties in the Special Branch.

“He was doing administrative work until January 2018,” Munusamy said.

Shamzaini has also been summoned to testify but at a later date.

This public inquiry is to ascertain if the disappearance of Amri, Pastor Raymond Koh, Pastor Joshua Hilmy and Joshua’s wife, Ruth, were cases of enforced disappearance. – May 31, 2018.
