Whether Najib paid Shafee or not irrelevant to Anwar’s trial, says Nazri

Umno supreme council member Nazri Abdul Aziz says he personally does not believe the Sarawak Report’s claim that Prime Minister Najib Razak had paid lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah RM9.5 million. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, June 3, 2017.

WHETHER the prime minister paid or did not pay the lead prosecutor in Anwar Ibrahim’s sodomy trial almost RM10 million would have been of no relevance to the trial, says Umno supreme council member Nazri Abdul Aziz.

Pressed to answer the question of whether the alleged payment from the prime minister, if it had indeed occurred, would have affected the outcome of the trial, Nazri said payment to the prosecutor of the case would have had no bearing on the court’s decision.

  • My dear Nazri, please learn to think properly. If Shafee could have received RM9.5 million from Najib, wouldn't it make you wonder if the judges could have been paid off too? Best to call for an investigation soon, rather than just dismiss the findings. Perhaps Najib can supply the investigation with details of his bank account payments? Shafee could also do the same, so we shall know whether or not Shafee kept the RM9.5 million, or paid someone in return with the cash.
